Throughout my life, in any endeavor I have taken on, there is a phrase that has always stuck with me, keeping me focused and determined. Today was my first day back to class after what seemed like an all-too-quick winter … Continue reading
This past weekend I housed some honored guests, my parents. I was very excited and it gave me the excuse to buy some extra special food and drinks for entertaining. Of course, my mom cooked, which made it even better (doesn’t it always?). Pretty much all the knowledge I have of cooking I learned from my mother…and the Food Network, but mostly my mother. Thanks Mom!
Though, I did make a huge, healthy salad to complement our meal. I used kale, spinach and mixed greens, half a red onion and grape tomatoes. The vinaigrette was my favorite though. It was basic and super simple to whip together. It could even be used to pour over some salmon before cooking.
For the recipe, check out today’s post on the Strala Blog!
Hope you’re all staying healthy, eating healthy and staying warm!
I had a new yoga revelation! Well, maybe not new, it’s something I’ve always known but, like my past posts about yoga mantras and revelations, this one shot up similarly and made all the difference in my at-home practice. I wrote about it on the Strala Blog this week. Check it out here!
This post involves my at-home yoga practice, Nimbus (the spoiled little prince that he is) and one of my favorite teachers, Heidi’s helpful words of wisdom. Bottom line: smile! It’s easy!
Happy Monday everyone!

Hi everyone! How was the weekend? I hope well and fun because that’s what weekends are for, right? I’m a little late in posting this to The Food Yogi Blog. I’m a neglectful blog mom.
But here is my post on the Strala blog today.
So this weekend I made a decision after much deliberation. Remember this post I wrote about cleansing? I wrote it back in July and it has been on my mind ever since. But recently, Kris Carr’s book, Crazy Sexy Diet came into my life and I knew this was my answer. Starting this week I am giving this cleanse my all for the next 21 days. I will post on Mondays about the process, the ups, downs and anything else that comes up throughout the next few weeks!
I am super excited to start this cleanse especially because I haven’t been feeling my best and could really use a good jump-start back into feeling great! Not to mention Kris Carr is a rocks and is the ultimate wellness warrior. Check back next week for an update on the latest of how this cleanse is going.
In the meantime, you should try her “Make Juice Not War Green Juice”:

-big fistful of kale
-big fistful of sweet pea sprouts
-4 – 5 stalks celery
-1 – 2 big broccoli stems
-1 pear or green apple (optional)
-1 inch of ginger (or less)
Other optional greens: romaine, parsley, spinach and dandelion.
Juice all ingredients. Sip and enjoy.
